創世記 17章 17,18節

17 アブラハムはひれ伏した。しかし笑って、ひそかに言った。「百歳の男に子供が生まれるだろうか。九十歳のサラに子供が産めるだろうか。」
18 アブラハムは神に言った。「どうか、イシュマエルが御前に生き永らえますように。」

17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”
18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”

　「しかし笑って」と「and laughed」は少し雰囲気が違うと思う。
　この“and”は“but”の雰囲気を含んでいるものなのだろうか。

　その後、「ひそかに言った」ということになってるけど、ESVでは「said to himself」

　「and laughed, and said in his heart,」（KJV）
　「そして笑ったが、心の中で言った。」（新改訳）

　どうも、アブラハムは口に出して発言してなさそうな気がする。笑ってはいるみたいだけど。
