創世記 50章 11節

　その土地に住んでいるカナン人たちは、ゴレン・アタドで行われた追悼の儀式を見て、「あれは、エジプト流の盛大な追悼の儀式だ」と言った。それゆえ、その場所の名は、アベル・ミツライム（エジプト流の追悼の儀式）と呼ばれるようになった。それは、ヨルダン川の東側にある。
　When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning on the threshing floor of Atad, they said, “This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.” Therefore the place was named Abel-mizraim; it is beyond the Jordan.

　「the threshing floor of Atad」=「ゴレン・アタド」

　「threshing」って何かなと思って訳を見たら固有名詞扱いだった。
　どうやら、「脱穀場」を意味するらしい。
　新改訳も同様に「ゴレン・ハアタデ」となっているけれど、口語訳では「アタデの打ち場」となっている。
　打ち場と言われてもわからないけど…。

　その地の住民、カナンびとがアタデの打ち場の嘆きを見て、「これはエジプトびとの大いなる嘆きだ」と言ったので、その所の名はアベル・ミツライムと呼ばれた。これはヨルダンの向こうにある。（口語訳）

　その地の住民のカナン人は、ゴレン・ハアタデのこの葬儀を見て、「これはエジプトの荘厳な葬儀だ。」と言った。それゆえ、そこの名はアベル・ミツライムと呼ばれた。これはヨルダンの向こうの地にある。（新改訳）

　And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.（KJV）

　ミツライムがエジプトなのか否かという話はとても興味深いけれど、あまり深入りはしないようにする。
